@grandmastermicochero We live in northern California. We average high 30s in the winter and high 90s in the summer.

Hello, to get rid of any worm infestation, try buying some Praying Mantis, they will take care of the pests for you, and about the Black Soldier Fly, you don’t have to touch the worms, find out here on youtube how to make ramps for the larvae, and when they are ready to turn into a fly, they will go up the ramp and you can have a collecting cup waiting for them at the end of the ramp, they will in a sence self harvest.

@brad238899 From what I’ve read, the hornworms used as food in the reptile/amphibian industry are farm raised and fed a specific diet that does not include tomato plant leaves. I’m not sure how much truth there is to that, but it sounds feasible.

@SpeedGimp It actually is safe to feed them to many things. Hornworms are actually becoming hugely popular in the reptile & amphibian industry.

@edpozek One way to clear up the water in your fish tank is to put air stones in fish tank. For some reason The more air you put to it the fast the water clears up. I guess it make the dirt and stuff drop to the bottom of the tank faster.

@MrMadmax478 Hey thanks! Liner is doing great now. For the greenhouse system we have about 15 large size tilapia. They are doing a great job so far.

Still think your system is awesome Sorry hear about the damage to the liner. How many fish are you using to run this system.

@SpeedGimp It’s funny you say that as I was thinking about that very thing after I had feed them. They are awfully bright green for a reason so maybe that isn’t the best of ideas. I will see if that is going to be an issue. The moth they morph into is really awesome so I think I may have to conduct my own science experiment.

Not trying to cause a scare, and not speaking with any expert knowledge, I’m just curious if it’s safe to feed tomato horn worms to the tilapia. Other than parasitic wasps, I don’t recall ever seeing other animals prey tomato horn worms.Tomato leaves contain atropine which is toxic. I’m wondering if the atropine accumulates in the worms and makes them toxic as well. If no other animals prey on them (and I don’t know that they don’t), it could be because of toxicity. You may want to investigate.

@marthale7 PS the way to find hornworms is to look for the droppings. You about never see the worm but the droppings let you know where they are.

BT ( bacteria ) is the way to go for Hornworms also known as tabacco worms. Great setup you have there.
