diy aquaponics floating raft | Aquaponics Association Conference

diy aquaponics floating raft

Aquaponics Association LogoLast winter, several of us had a conversation in the Aquaponic gardening Community about the need for a unifying aquaponics organization, along with an excuse to collect, face-to-face, and shape of this organization in person.  This online conversation spawned on a range of Skype conversations with me and a few others to explore the possibility of actually this wishful thinking into a reality.  Which Skype conversations eventually incorporated only two of us, Gina Cavaliero of Greenacre Organics and me, and we are now undertaking this sponsorship with our two companies.  Only two parties have allowed us to stay lean, fast and maneuverable enough to pull this out in the little time and scarce resources that we have!

Planning is well underway with many already reached.  First, we secured two incredible keynote speakers that we feel are among the biggest names in their respective markets.  We have In commercial aquaponics Susanne friend and we have in home-based aquaponics Murray Hallam.  Then we have decided on a location.  Florida seemed like a great choice for this first Conference (hopefully it becomes an annual event) because there are so many aquaponics activity there.  Plus had Susanne friend and Tim Mann of friendly Aquaponics already have a trip planned to Green Acres in September to learn a commercial training class.  Not only does this ensure that they are already in Florida and will be available, but it also makes it very useful for the Conference participants who want to take of the friendly Aquaponics/Green Acre Organics commercial training class.  They can only extend their stay in Florida.

Before anyone else that we wanted to see how much aqua pons might be interested in attending a Conference in Orlando in September.  We sent a survey, and the response was incredible!  The survey indicated that between 150 and 200 participants could count.  Based on early registration, it seems to us as we the maximum of 200 participants will hit and this Conference will sell out!

With the encouraging information from surveys in we started work on the website of the association with awesome volunteer Web programmer, James Fry of Marketing for good.  Kim Leszczynksi of The Design Connection created on the same time fabulous volunteer graphic designer, the logo of the event.  We quickly assembled a group of incredible speakers (check it out http://aquaponicsassociation.org/2011-conference/schedule/), created an exciting programme for sponsors and the contract with the hotel.  On 17 June, we launched the Aquaponics Association Facebook page, and on 18 June, we launched the Aquaponics Association website.

We have nearly 30 people sign up in the past two weeks.  That is incredibly beautiful given how far the event still is.  If you are considering participation in us, and I hope you are, not wait until the last minute to sign up!  Not only are prices up on 1 August, but we will close registration with 200 participants.
